https://www.medpharmaceutica.com/index.php/journal/article/view/27

The purpose of this research was to determine whether or not the polymeric combinations of HPMC and ethyl cellulose could be used to create an effective matrix-type transdermal drug delivery system (TDDS) of Metformin HCL (EC). In a solvent system of dichloromethane and methanol (1:1), 6 matrix patches were produced employing these polymeric materials with propylene Glycol as a plasticizer and vegetable oils (eucalyptus oil) as permeation enhancers. Weight, medicament content, water content, hydration uptake, flatness, folding durability, and thickness were all measured and analysed to describe the formulations. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of the generated TDDS were recorded to see the drug - delivery pattern, and the stability of the preparations and in vitro dissolution of the trial formulations were utilized to calculate the quantity of metformin HCL in the patches. The FTIR spectroscopy technique was used to investigate drug-excipient interactions. Drug distribution homogeneity in the matrix was confirmed by in vitro dissolution tests, and maximal drug release in 24 hours was achieved with formulation F6 (containing Eucalyptus oil).
Amit Kumar Singh

https://www.medpharmaceutica.com/index.php/journal/article/view/28

The primary role of the urinary system is to ensure that bodily fluid occur in both volume and composition within normal ranges. It is frequently referred to as the renal system since one component of this role is to cleanse the body of waste products that gather as a result of cellular metabolism. Age-related alterations in glomerular basement membrane thickness, tubulointerstitial modifications, variations in the total nephron size and number, and elevated glomerulosclerosis are all observed. The urothelium is a transitional epithelium with the luminal surface comprised of a unique layer of umbrella cells. The kidneys produce the urine and are responsible for the other urinary system activities. Urinary bladder serves as a temporary urine storage and is reached by the ureters. Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) is a collection of symptoms with pain as its overarching symptom.

Nidhi ChauhanPreeti KhulbeManish GuptaPriya SenEknath D. Ahire

https://www.medpharmaceutica.com/index.php/journal/article/view/21

Rasa shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana in Ayurvedic medicine relate to compositions made from materials of plant, animal, mineral, and metallic origin. The most popular supplementary dose type is an Avaleha Kalpana (medicament semisolid concoction), which is made by boiling the prescription medication using jaggery, sugar, or sugar candies (decoction). Sushrut, Vagbhat, and Acharya Charak are all employed as a rejuvenator. Simply because of its effortless dosing, consumer acceptability, and prolonged shelf life, it is growing more and more renowned every day. Drug administration via the oral transmucosal pathway has always demonstrated tremendous potential for both regional and localization. Avaleha form could be contrasted to British Pharmacopoeia confection or electuaries conserves. Confection form is the method of blending insoluble granules into a paste with sugars, syrup, and honey in order to deliver significant amounts of them into a delectable form. The notion of Avaleha Kalpana (medicated semisolid preparation) was examined in this study using sources such as Ayurvedic literary works, periodicals, The Ayurvedic Formulary of India, The Ayurvedic Pharmacopeia of India, and others.
Adi Dev Bharti

https://www.medpharmaceutica.com/index.php/journal/article/view/17

The review article focuses on development and pharmaceutical applications of ultrabright nanocarriers in advanced drug delivery due to their biocompatibility, size, target-specificity and increased efficacy properties. These include dendrimers, polymeric micelles, solid-lipid nanoparticles, C dots, integrins etc. Their objective is safe and effective delivery of highly hydrophobic drugs, improving their pharmacokinetics as well as bio-distribution potential, thus minimizing their potential toxicity. Various researchers have emphasized on the assembling organic molecules into biodegradable nanoparticles featuring much higher brightness than single dye molecules. Modifications in nanoparticles have been implemented to change the color in response to single biomolecule such as proteins and nucleic acids. Nanoparticle technology has been as an analytical tool in both cancer cell research and medical diagnostics.
Preeti KhulbeSugandha VarshneyNidhi SethiDeepa SinghEknath D. Ahire

2023-12-232023-12-23111421REVIEW ON NANOSPONGES IN CANCER THERAPY
https://www.medpharmaceutica.com/index.php/journal/article/view/23

The development of recent colloidal, porous, microscopic mesh-like delivery systems, or nanosponges, with a size range of 1 m, provides regulated drug delivery at a specific spot in the majority of cancer treatments. Nanosponges have a crucial role to play in the controlled shipping of drugs. Numerous medications, both lipophilic and hydrophilic, may be placed into nanosponges for targeted drug administration and to increase the solubility and bioavailability of the same medication. Nanosponge are able to move freely across the entire frame until they interact with a specific target point, cling to the floor, and begin a controlled drug release. After the development of Nanosponges, issues caused by conventional drug delivery systems were solved. Nanosponges are multifunctional drug delivery systems that both increase treatment efficacy and lessen undesirable side effects. A breakthrough in the treatment of cancer has been made possible by the development of nanosponges (NSs), which are polymeric structures made of branching cyclodextrin (CD). The traditional medication delivery mechanism, which is employed in the treatment of most malignancies, is frequently insoluble and has negative side effects. Thus, energetic drugs that are trapped in complex polymers made of cyclodextrins are employed in nanosponges. Because of the drug's increased solubility, hydrophobic tablets may incorporate into NSs. In this review, we concentrated on providing a fundamental introduction to nanosponges. We also concluded their preparation techniques, polymers used, and characterization.
Khemchand R. 2023-12-232023-12-23112231A PHARMACEUTICAL PERSPECTIVE ON SMART POLYMERS IN DRUG DELIVERY: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
https://www.medpharmaceutica.com/index.php/journal/article/view/29

New drug development is aimed to ensure that the drug is delivered to the desired place in correct quantity. Low drug solubility, drug degradation, or rapid clearance of drug from the body may decrease the effectiveness of a drug. The polymers are effective means for the delivery of small molecules, proteins, genes, or peptides. Polymers are macromolecules having very large chains, and contain a variety of functional groups. They can be attached with other low or high molecular-weight materials, and can be modified as per the requirement. Polymers are nowadays becoming highly significant in the field of drug delivery due to their effectiveness in drug targeting. Advances in polymer science have led to the development of many novel drug-delivery systems. A proper modification of their surface and bulk properties can help in the utilization of polymers for many drug-delivery systems. The present review is aimed to highlight the design and applications of polymers, biodegradable and non-biodegradable polymers, polymer design and characterization, and recent advancements in polymer technology.
Abhijeet OjhaEknath D.
